Discovering Michigan County by County

Barbara J. Mitchell VanderMolen, Author

Barbara J. Mitchell VanderMolen grew up in Dearborn Heights (Wayne County), graduated from Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo County), and now lives in Charlotte (Eaton County) with her retired husband. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren.

As a “big city girl” who moved to a “rural” area as an adult, she had the opportunity to experience the agriculture and natural resources culture in Michigan as well as travel throughout the state. Consequently, she has a broad and unique perspective on the State of Michigan and this has contributed greatly to the scope of her book. As a ‘professional volunteer’ she is very active in her church and community, loves to organize anything, designed her own home, created the small businesses of Give-A-Tree and Day Tripper Tours of Mid-Michigan, and is well known locally for her homemade pies and jam.
