"Early Automotive Standardization - Cole Motor Company" by Kevin Fleck
The auto industry had many manufactures and many supplies with thousands of ways of doing things. This lecture will cover the origins of standardization and specifically focus on the Cole Motor Car Company that trademarked the term "standardized car" in 1913.
Cole went on to work with a who's who in the automotive industry and organized the million dollar standardization conference that same year to drive increased standards and approaches for the industry.
This lecture will give the history of early standardization approaches and share the evolution during the 1910's and 20's.
Speaker: Kevin Fleck is a member of the Society of Automotive Historians (SAH), founder of the Cole Motor Car Registry, guest curator of the previous Cole Motor Car Exhibit at the Gilmore Car Museum, author of several automotive articles, and a pre-1930's automotive collector and enthusiast.
