The Gilmore Research Library and Archives
Where Automotive History Lives
The Gilmore Car Museum Research Library and Archival Facility, located in the Automotive Heritage Center, is the perfect place to seeking answers to your auto history questions or in depth research.
Here, you’ll find an ever-growing collection of nearly one million items — everything from motoring magazines to shop manuals, owner’s manuals, parts books, service bulletins, sales brochures, general reference works and club publications. There’s even an exceptional archive of automotive advertising materials and 380,000 automotive patents.
The Gilmore Research Library and Archives is also home to several Special Collections, including the Cole Motor Car Company archives, Checker Motor Corporation Archives and a vast amount on the 1948 Tucker and Tucker Corporation.
We’re here to help.
Whether you’re just looking for facts about a favorite car brand or working on a term paper about the history of automotive advertising, we offer a wide breadth of information and materials. Our resources include a growing collection of materials that date from the early days of the American automobile to today, as well as educated staff members and volunteers to assist you.
