The Gilmore Car Museum Research Library and Archival Facility, located in the Automotive Heritage Center, is the perfect place to spend an hour browsing, or a week of researching and writing. Here, you’ll find a collection of over half a million items – everything from motoring magazines to shop manuals, owner’s manuals, parts books, service bulletins, sales brochures, general reference works and club publications. There’s even an exceptional archive of automotive advertising materials. The Gilmore Archives is also home to full collections, including the Checker Motor Corporation Archives and the Oakland-Pontiac Club Archives.
We’re here to help.
Whether you’re just looking for facts about a favorite car brand or working on a term paper about the history of automotive advertising, we offer a wide breadth of information and materials. Our resources include a growing collection of materials that date from the early days of the American automobile to today, as well as educated staff members and volunteers to assist you.
